125+ School Leavers Nickname Ideas
The hardest part of designing your Year 12 jersey isn't the colours — it's picking a nickname. Below are 125+ nickname ideas sorted into nine categories: classic, funny, sports, Aussie, cool, movie & TV, foody, animal, and year-12 inside jokes.
How to pick a good jersey nickname. The best Year 12 jersey nicknames are short (1–2 words), instantly recognisable to your mates, and something you're happy to still be called at your 30-year reunion. If in doubt, ask your friend group to vote — the nickname you don't pick yourself is almost always the one that sticks.
What to avoid. Anything that would embarrass a parent, anything a teacher would have to censor, and anything you already secretly hate. Also skip nicknames that only made sense in Year 8 — you've moved on.

Nickname FAQ
- Can each student on the jersey have a different nickname?
- Yes. Every student's name or nickname (and number) is printed at no extra cost — we just need a final spreadsheet before production.
- How long can a Year 12 jersey nickname be?
- We recommend 12 characters or fewer so the print sits proportionally above the number. Longer nicknames still work, they just render smaller.
- Can the school veto a nickname?
- Most schools review the final list before print. If the school knocks something back, students can pick a replacement without extra cost right up until production locks.
- When do we need to lock in nicknames?
- About 4 weeks before graduation — after mockup approval, before we start printing. Use our timeline calculator to back-plan from your target date.
